Joe Sanchez, 76, died May 13, 2018 at his home in Amarillo. Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Minton Memorial Chapel under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Joe was born April 24, 1942 in Tom Green County, TX to Andres Seinz Sanchez and Josefa Gomez Sanchez. Joe resided in Borger for many years before moving to Amarillo where he’s been for 30+ years. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army from 1961 until 1964 as a MOS 723. He was a Program Director at the Amarillo Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse since 2001. He worked on many different programs but they all were about helping people get clean and stay out of prison. He had a passion for seeing people change their lives for the better. Joe graduated from Borger High School received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling. In addition, he was a Licensed Counselor in Chemical Dependency and a Forensic Counselor. Joe retired and enjoyed playing golf.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Helen and his brothers Andrew and George.
Joe is survived by his wife Peggy, his brother Dennis of Fritch, his sisters Elida Naslund of Amarillo, Elisa Prock of Fritch and Elena Montiel of Fritch and many nieces and nephews.
His ashes will be interred in the Catholic Cemetery in Knickerbocker, TX at a later date.
