A. J. Newell, 78, died Wednesday, July 25th, 2007 in Amarillo, Texas.BRBRGraveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Westlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Calvin Newton, pastor of First Assembly of God officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.BRBRA. J. was born on Feburary 11, 1929 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma and had been a Borger resident for 50 years. He married Billie Jordan on March 13, 1953 in Anadarko, Ok. He was a foreman for the Borger Refuse Department for 30 years. He served in the US Army for four years during Korean Conflict. He received the Korean Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars, Japan Occupation Medal, Signal Corps School-Japan, Presidential Unit Citation and Distinguished Unit Emblem. He wa a member of the VFW Post in Borger.BRBRHe is survived by his wife, Billie of the home, son - Randy Newell of Borger, two daughters - Patsy Newell Hubbard and Teresa Newell both of Borger, two sisters - Imogene Fields of Anadarko, Ok., Geraldine LaBonte of Gardner, Massachuetts, three grandchildren - Ryan Newell, Randall Hubbard, Chad Hubbard, and three great-grandchildren - Alana Hubbard, McKaylee Hubbard, and Darian Winkle.
