Panhandle Albert Gary Humphrey of Panhandle, Texas, died on Saturday, October 28, 2006, in Amarillo. Funeral services by MintonChatwell of Panhandle will be Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the Panhandle Church of Christ with Mr. Leonard Harper of San Jacinto Church of Christ and John Dale Kelly, elder, officiating. Interment will be in the Panhandle Cemetery. Mr. Humphrey was born in McLean County, Kentucky on October 30, 1933. He had been a resident of Panhandle, Texas, for 36 years. He was a farmer for many years in Kentucky and Texas, owned a welding shop in Panhandle, and most recently was a truck driver for Plains Transportation in Amarillo. He was a captain in the Kentucky National Guard, where he served for 15 years. He was a great storyteller, loved to fish and most of all loved his family and his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Fara Humphrey; two sisters, Mary Linda Turner and Ruth Edds; and a granddaughter, Carson Harding. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sandra Humphrey, three daughters, Felecia Brewer and husband, Dave of Amarillo; Denise Doggett and husband, Jesse of Mesa, Arizona; and Jennifer Hall and husband, Wesley of Panhandle; and two sons, Chris Humphrey and wife Christine, of Fort Collins, Colorado; and Corey Humphrey and wife, Jenny of Lubbock, Texas; one brother, Hubert Humphrey of Falls of the Rough, Kentucky; two sisters, Julia James of Johnson City, Tennessee; and Mildred Niceley of Adrian, Michigan; and nineteen grandchildren. The family wishes to express special thanks to Annette and Betty and all the wonderful nurses at BSA Hospice, as well as Pam, Kristy and Sue of Pampa BSA Hospice. The family suggests memorials be made to Olivia's Angels in care of BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105, or to High Plains Children's Home.
