Albert Michael "Mike" McKinney, 73, passed away on November 13, 2020 in Amarillo. A Celebration of his life will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church in Borger. Graveside service will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. Due to Covid 19 virus limitations everyone is encouraged to wear a face covering when interacting with others. Memorial donations may be made in Mike's name to The Kevin McKinney Memorial Scholarship Fund at Frank Phillips College, P. O. Box 5118 , Borger, TX 79008.
Mike was born June 19, 1947 in Borger to Albert and Francis McKinney, he was a lifetime resident of Borger. He graduated from Borger High School in 1965 and married Marlene Madden on January 25, 1965 in Amarillo. Mike was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church and was co-owner of Madden Sales until his retirement. He loved helping the kids of this area by serving as President of the BHS Football Booster Club, coaching Little League baseball and Youth Football teams. He served his community by volunteering for Meals on Wheels, the Opportunity Center and Living Waters Ministry. He also served as the Secretary and Treasurer of the Powder River Boys of which his great friend Tibby Rogers is President. Mike never met a stranger, he loved to golf, traveling (many family vacations to great places), Las Vegas was a favorite spot.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Kevin, his brothers Billy Joe and Max McKinney and his sister Sue Nesbitt.
Mike is survived by his wife of fifty-five years Marlene, his two sons Kelly McKinney and his wife Tamra and Joshua McKinney all of Borger, his five grandchildren Tyler, Miles and his wife Emily, Fred, Emma and Mike'lin, and his sister Frieda Kelm and her husband Ricky of Plainview.
