Borger

Allene Rebecca Nunley left her earthly home to eternity in Heaven Friday, August 26, 2022.

Funeral services will be 2 pm on Monday August 29, 2022, at Grace Church with graveside rights to follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Borger, Texas.  The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.  In lieu of flowers her memory may be honored with a gift to Borger Health Care Activities Fund, 1316 S Florida, Borger, Texas, 79007.

Allene was born in Garvin County, Oklahoma to Leander and Fay (Hayes) Everett.  Her early life was farm life and much love from a big family of three brothers and three sisters.  She graduated from Paoli (Oklahoma) High School in 1947 and enrolled that summer in St. Anthony’s Nursing School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  This is where she met her first husband Bill Brown (on a blind date) who was also in Chiropractic School. After a short month of dating, they were married December 24, 1948, in Childress, Texas.  Bill and Allene moved to Borger, Texas in 1952 and made a home with their two children.  Bill began a successful Chiropractic practice and Allene worked as a nurse.

Allene was a LVN for most of her life at North Plains Hospital working in the surgical area assisting doctors with operations.  She changed professions in 1975 after returning to college for her associate degree of Hospital Environmental Management.  She was the Executive Director of Housekeeping until she retired in 1995 with a 45-year career at North Plains Hospital.

Allene was active during the early family years with regular church activities, Sunday school teacher, ceramics, camping, boating, water skiing and was highly skilled with hand work of crocheting, beads, and sequins.  Her grandkids were never far away and begged to stay at Nina’s house which was always fun.  She was well known as Nina by her many grandchildren.

Allene is preceded in death by three wonderful husbands, Bill Brown (1988) Jay Timmons (2002) and Jack Nunley (2015); her parents; and six of her brothers and sisters.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Ross and Laura (Walden) Brown, Charlotte Wheeler, Paul and Linda (Sprenkle) Timmons, Terri and Sonny Turner, Mark Timmons, and Carol and Dave Yirak; 25 grandchildren; and at last count, 20 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Josiah Brown, Elijah Brown, Riley Graham, Reese Graham, Jesse Wheeler, Korbin Wheeler, Dax McCracken.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Borger Healthcare and staff for the excellent care, compassion, kindness and love they gave to our mother this past year.  She felt they were her family.
