Alta Mcdonald

Borger Alta Mae McDonald, 97, of Borger, died Monday in Borger. Graveside services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Highland Park Cemetery with Chaplain C.W. Parker of Odyssey Hospice officiating. Services are under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Alta moved to Borger from Spring Creek in 1945. She then moved to Shamrock in 1963 where she was a Police Dispatcher for the Shamrock Police Department until 1973 when she retired. She then moved to Amarillo and returned to Borger in 2005. She married Oren Lee McDonald in Athens, TX on March 9, 1929. She loved to garden, sew and cook. She was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband Oren, a daughter Joyce Marie Hampton, a son Roy D. McDonald, a grandson Steven Hampton and 2 brothers Oley Clark Dalrymple and Raymond Martin Dalrymple. Survivors include a daughter - Lois Burris of Borger; 2 sons - Bennie Doran McDonald of Allen, TX and Jimmie Dan McDonald of Mission, TX; 8 grandchildren - Pam Brooks, David Lee Burris Sr., Jana Cates, Sandy White, Karen Daniels, Kevin McDonald, Carrie McDonald and Elizabeth McDonald; 5 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Odyssey Hospice 69 I-40 West Suite 150 Amarillo, TX 79106. The family will be staying at 1017 Elmore in Borger.
