Alton Hester, Sr.

Alton Eugene Hester, Sr., 90, passed away Friday, September 5, 2014.

Funeral service will be held 11 am Monday, September 8, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church, Panhandle, Texas. There will also be services 11 am Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at OBrien Baptist Church, OBrien, Texas. Burial will follow on Tuesday in OBrien Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.

Alton was born December 16, 1923 in Haskell County, Texas to Allie and Roy Hester. He loved singing, playing the harmonica and listening to LaUna play the piano. Alton enjoyed fishing, gardening and playing golf. Mr. Hester loved his family, church family and all it stood for. Nothing would bring a smile to his face more than spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents son, Alton Eugene Hester, Jr. grandson, Timothy Hester brothers, Truett Hester, Sydney Hester and sister, LaVerne Hewitt.

Survivors include his wife of 73 years, LaUna Hester of the home daughters, Cathy Mitchell and companion, Gene, Elaine Eaton and companion, Buddy all of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, Brenda Robinson and husband, Doyle of Panhandle nine grandchildren, Angie Hester, Monte Mitchell, Destiny Mitchell, Ginger Smith and husband, Wesley, Jay Bob Eaton and wife, Reba, Jessica Eaton, Jennifer Herzberg and husband, Kalen, Mande Mulkey and husband, Jeremy, Zach Robinson and wife, Sherra sixteen great grandchildren three great great grandchildren numerous nieces and nephews and a host of extended family.
