Alvin H. Brokob, 84, of Borger left this earth to join his heavenly Father Monday, October 16, 2006 in Littlefield, Texas.
He was born on June 26, 1922 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Carl and Bertha Brokob. Alvin served in the United States Army Air Corps with the 380th Bomb Group as tail gunner on the Deliverer, a B24 Liberator, during World War II. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross twice for courage and valor.
He married Juanda Ervin January 11, 1945, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Alvin and Juanda made their home in Borger, Texas since 1945. Alvin was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company until his retirement in 1985.
Alvin enjoyed being active with his many hobbies. He deeply loved his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. He was well loved and respected by everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife Juanda and his parents.
Alvin is survived by his two daughters, Carla Blackman and husband Dell of Littlefield, Texas and Laura Bichler and husband David of Houston; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 23, 2006 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Borger with Rev. Dr. Jerry Lane officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to VistaCare Hospice of Plainview, 4418 Olton Road, Plainview, Texas 79072; or the Borger Opportunities Center, 930 Illinos, Borger, Tx. 79007.
The family will be receiving visitors at 114 Ash in Borger.
