Anita M. Cannon, 63, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016 in Broken Arrow Oklahoma.
Funeral Services will be at 2 P.M. Thursday February 4, 2016 at Gateway Baptist Church with Pastor Ron Downs officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell funeral directors of Borger.
Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. Wednesday February 3, 2016 at Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors.
Anita was born on March 1, 1952 in Hamlin, Texas to James and Levona Mae (McDowell) Best. Anita moved to Borger in 1961 and graduated from Borger High School in 1970. She became a Licensed Vocational Nurse and shared her love of helping people for over 35 years in the Borger area. Anita was married to Calvin E. Cannon Jr. on March 7, 1970 at Gateway Baptist Church and shared 45 years of wonderful marriage prior to her passing. Anita loved to sing and had the voice of an angel, she sang semi-professional with a trio of her sisters for several years. Anita moved to Broken Arrow Oklahoma in 2008 with her husband to pursue a business opportunity but always considered Borger to be home. Anita had a special place in her heart and loved spending time with her two grandchildren Malia and Micah.
Anita is preceded in death by her parents; her precious grandson Maysn Cannon in 2013, her brother James Best in 2013, and her two sisters Betty Stapler in 2004 and Carolyn Boerner in 2003 .
Anita is survived by her husband Calvin Cannon of Broken Arrow Oklahoma, her son and his wife Christopher and Susan Cannon of Vista California, and her two grandchildren Malia and Micah Cannon. Anita is also survived by three sisters Linda Eldredge of Haltom City, Texas, Donna Bradford and her husband Steve of Pilot Point, Texas, Janie Littrell and husband Brooks of Guymon, Oklahoma, and one brother Gary Best of Fort Worth, Texas. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
The Family wishes to give special thanks to Rosewood Hospice of Broken Arrow Oklahoma for their loving care of Anita and the support they provided to her family. Her Loved ones will forever carry many fond memories of Anita singing and entertaining her nieces and nephews and family. Heaven has gained a lead singer for its choir.
