Anita Stroud, a respected retired landman and cherished member of the Borger community, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025, in Amarillo, Texas. She was born on October 29, 1938, in Borger, Texas, to Robert Heston and Garland Jasper where she spent her formative years and developed her love for cooking, reading, and watching old westerns. She had traveled to Germany and Panama and had an affinity for butterflies.
Anita was a proud graduate of Borger High School, which set the foundation for her future endeavors. Throughout her career, she earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues as a dedicated landman, leaving a mark on the industry with her professionalism and expertise.
Anita's family meant the world to her. She is survived by her sons; Toby and (wife) Dena Stroud of Stinnett, Tod and (wife) Debbie Stroud of Amarillo, and Tucker and (wife) Kelli Stroud of Stinnett; brother Randy Heston and wife Phyllis of Stinnett; sister Ellen Griffin of Cleburne, Texas; 11 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. They carry forward her legacy of compassion, wisdom, and strength. Anita was predeceased by her husband, William Riley, her parents, and her sisters, Lavonna and Treva.
The community will gather to honor Anita’s life during visitation on February 25, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors in Borger, Texas. A graveside service is scheduled for February 26, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Stinnett Cemetery in Stinnett, Texas, where she will be laid to rest.
Anita Stroud will be remembered for her warmth, her zest for life, and her unwavering love for her family. She leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories that will be treasured by all who knew her.
