Arthur Don Bybee, 84, died Monday June 7, 2021 in Amarillo. Graveside service will be 12:00 p.m. Thursday at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. His Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with Pastor Charlie Morgan, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening.
Art was born October 27, 1936 in Jayton, TX to Arthur Elson Bybee and Lorene Cook Bybee. He moved to Phillips when he was young and became a Phillips Blackhawk football player and went on to receive a football scholarship to Texas Tech University. Arthur worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. as a Materials Manager for 38 years. He loved to water and snow ski, fish, golf, work in his yard and was an exceptional griller in the back yard.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 100 S. Hedgecoke St., Borger, TX 79007.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Wanda Snider.
Art is survived by his wife of 63 years Karla, his son Don Bybee of Amarillo and his daughter Pam Joy and her husband Joe of Elk City, OK, his brother Bob Bybee and his wife Judy of Amarillo, his grandchildren Angela Joy, C. J. Joy and his wife Courtney, Alyssa Bybee, Ashten Gomez and her husband Rawley, Brayden Bybee and Blake Bybee.
