Arthur Deahl Howe passed away peacefully at home at the age of 90 on July 3, 2011.
Graveside services will be 10:00 am Saturday July 9th at Panhandle Cemetery with Rev. E. Lynn Howe of Billings, Montana officiating. Burial will be under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. Visitation will be Friday July 8th at the funeral home from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
He was born at Rana, New Mexico on Sept. 5, 1920. His family moved to Panhandle, TX when he was 4 and he was raised there. In High School he excelled in football, basketball and boxing. He participated in Golden Gloves and won many of his events. He attended Texas Tech and then bought a ranch near Prichett, Colo. He served two years in the Navy during WWII. In 1949 he sold his ranch in Colo. and bought land 7 miles south of Ft. Pierre, South Dakota. He farmed and ranched for 26 years on land that is now Mack and Kyle Wyly farms. After selling his land in So. Dakota he moved to Fountain Hills, Ariz. where he lived for 28 years before moving to Selma, TX.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lillie Belle, one daughter, Karen Von Hemel, Lamar, CO, one stepson, Terry Tackitt, San Antonio, TX, 10 grandchildren and 20 greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his two sons, Larry Deahl and Anthony Dale Tony, his parents Johnny and Agnes Howe, 4 brothers and 1 sister. He is a member of the Rolling Oaks Christian Church.
A Memorial will be held at the Rolling Oaks Christian Church on July 16, at 10 AM.
