Arthur Dean "Art" Jewett, 83. went to meet his Lord and Savior on April 8, 2019. Celebration of his life will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at The River Church in Panhandle. Pastor Mark Urquhart will officiate.
Art was born September 23, 1935 in Clarksville, TX to Arthur William Jewett and Rosie Etta Beck Jewett. He served his country in the National Guard where he was a Corporal. Art married Linda Faye DeBord October 1, 1982 in Amarillo and had lived in Panhandle for Sixty years. He worked as a Barber for sixty years and also worked at Pantex as an Explosives Handler and Supervisor for twenty years. He was a member of the Lion's Club, the Jaycees and the Riding Club. Art was an avid horseman he especially loved to rope head and heel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son David Hicks, his five sisters; Birda Ferguson, Nola Blalock, Lorene Caffee, Doris Osburn and Elaine Montgomery and his two brothers Clifford and John Jewett.
Art is survived by his wife Linda, his two sons Todd Jewett and his wife Theresa of Panhandle and Toby Jewett and his wife Becky of Fritch, his four daughters Tammy Wendel and her husband Greg of Panhandle, Sherry McEwen and her husband Skeeter of Amarillo, Paula Butler and her husband James of Amarillo and Misty Kelly and her husband Dee of Amarillo, his brother Robert Jewett of Greenboro, PA, 18 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great Great Grandchildren and many extended family members.
The family would like to greet friends at Tammy's home at 1100 Charles St. in Panhandle from 7:00 until 9:00 Thursday evening.
