Arvin Lyle Phillips, 89, passed away Friday, August 24, 2018.
A celebration of his life will be held 11 am Tuesday, August 28, 2018 in the Minton Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers his memory may be honored with a gift to the Alzheimer's Association, 5410 Bell Street #411, Amarillo, TX 79101.
Arvin was born September 21, 1928 in Saint Jo, Texas. He married Sarah Arlene Mercer on March 3, 1954 in Borger. He proudly served in the United States Army as a Corporal in Germany after graduating from Borger High School. After his honorable discharge he worked for Phillips 66 for 35 years. His retirement was spent in Colorado building their dream home, entertaining family and friends, doing his favorite things: fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and riding motorcycles. Medical issues brought them back to Texas.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Sarah; his mother and father; son, David Kyle; one brother, Teddy; one sister, Marie Ann; and one grandson, Clint.
Survivors include his three daughters, Jennifer Brown of Fritch, Ruth Young and her husband Mark of Fritch, and Elizabeth Davenport of Amarillo; six grandsons; fourteen great grandchildren; and his brother, Tommy Phillips and wife Joelyn.
