Aubrey Russell

Aubrey Lee Russell, 83, of Panhandle died Monday, September 24, 2018 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday at the 1st United Methodist Church in Panhandle under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.

Aubrey was born September 10, 1935 in Panhandle to Emmett and Alma Russell. After high school graduation Aubrey attended West Texas State College. He was inducted into the Army in November 1956. He served his community in several capacities, serving on the United Methodist Church Board and the Panhandle School Board. Aubrey received an award for his dedicated service to the Carson County Livestock Show in 2013, He was active in Soil and Water Conservation serving on the McClellan Creek District #156 for 30 years. Aubrey was on the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board Area 1 for eight years and was President for two of those years. In 2013 he was awarded the first President's Award for outstanding contributions and continuous support of the Soil and Water Conservation Districts in Texas.

He was preceded in death by a step son Ken Richard Jones.

Aubrey is survived by his wife of 37 years Mary Lou, his daughter Robbie Hicks (Bill) of Amarillo, his son Richard Russell (Anita) of Pampa, his step daughter Mary Jane Henson (Danny) of Gruver, his sister Erma Knapp (Clayton) and brother Ernest Russell (Linda) of Amarillo, thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren and many friends and relatives.
