Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.BRBRMr. Tisdale was born on December 30, 1918 in Dodson , Texas . He was a former resident of Phillips for 50 years, Fritch for 27 years and Amarillo for four years. He played football for the town of Dodson until Chesty Walker saw his future as a running back for the Phillips Blackhawks. Training for the team involved running the high altitudes of Red River, N.M. in those days. Aubrey, in his senior year, did not make Chesty's dream come true due to eligibility, but later that year played basketball for the Blackhawks. He met his future wife that year, Maxine Mac Milligan, who also had lived in Dodson, but they did not know each other there. After graduation, Aubrey began work at the Phillips Refinery. World War II called him to serve in the Army. With training from officers school, he was promoted to Lt. and led a southern troop of African American soldiers. When deployed after V.E. Day to Germany, Maxine was one of the first dozen officers wives chosen to leave for New York to share living quarters with her husband in Germany with German families. Phillips 66 rehired Aubrey as a stillman when he and Maxine returned from the service where they provided their two daughters a comfortable life. His talents for horticulture and yard art construction was pictured in several news articles. Aubrey was an artisan craftsman and designer. His love for the mountains led to his completion of a dream. On annual summer vacations over a period of 15 years, he, along with his family members help completed a two story cabin in Wheeler Peak Village, Red River. He was a member of Unity Masonic Lodge 1242 and was a Methodist. BRBRHis upbringing as a devout Christian could not be mistaken when one encounters Aubrey. He was sweet, kind and full of fun, and was a constant compliment to us as family. He was a lover of children, nature, music dance. Our memories of Aubrey Tis shall never fade.
