Audie Jenkins

July 6, 1925 — December 11, 2018

Audie Mae Jenkins was born July 6, 1925 in Witcherville, Arkansas and entered into rest on December 11, 2018 at the age of 93. She was the fourth of six children born to William "Willie" and Sara Hicks. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, W.C. "Claude" Jenkins, son Randy Elton Jenkins, sister Ethel Richmond, brothers Truitt, Connell, Luther and Leon.

Mae is survived by her son Allen Jenkins and wife Karla of Borger, daughter Patsy Harbin and husband Rocky of Fritch, grandchildren Melissa Jenkins, Wendy Tjepkes and husband Delwyn, Travis Harbin and wife Kelly, Danny Harbin and wife Mandy, Greg Jenkins and wife Kelly, George Jenkins, and 16 great grandchildren.

Mae had many talents including painting, sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, gardening and babysitting, all while raising a family. All of her quilts were hand sewn, never using a sewing machine. Her paintings were original, sometime scenes from her home State of Arkansas. She enjoyed fishing and camping with her family.

While growing up in Arkansas she helped support the family by harvesting various fruit crops, making molasses and pulling cotton. During World War II she worked in a furniture factory and worked at Fort Chaffee pressing military uniforms. Following the end of the war, her sister encouraged her to move to Borger where she obtained a job in a boarding house as a cook and house keeper. During this time there was a young man living in the boarding house who was a butcher in a local meat market. As he ate the delicious breakfast, he wondered who prepared it. He soon met the cook, Mae Hicks. They were married a few months later and he continued to enjoy those fantastic meals for the next 64 years.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 am on Saturday, December 15, 2018 in the Minton Memorial Chapel with Mr. Richard Kasko officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Pallbearers are Travis Harbin, Danny Harbin, Greg Jenkins, George Jenkins, Chandler Harbin and Jacob Jenkins.

Mae's family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to BSA Hospice and the Visiting Angels for all the loving care they gave her during her time of need.
