Audra Crossland

On November 3, 2020, Audra Lee Crossland, loving mother, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 in her home in Fritch, TX.

Audra Lee was born on April 25, 1932 in Typo, KY to Ottie and Bertie (Engle) Couch.  She graduated from Roy High School in 1949.  She was brought up with traditional values and learned the skills that a woman of her era should – cooking, sewing, knitting and embroidery, as well as a love of history.  On December 14, 1968, she married Aubrey Willis “Pete” Crossland.  She was a talented seamstress who did not know a stranger.  She is remembered as a kind, gentle friend and mother who always could make people smile with her creative humor.

Audra Lee is survived by her daughters, Vicki Berlier and husband Jim of Estancia, NM and Shannon Crossland of Lubbock, TX; her stepsons Richard Crossland and wife Debbie of Henrietta, TX; and Alan Crossland and wife Linda of Calmar, Iowa.  Audra Lee is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Aubrey Willis “Pete” Crossland; her parents, Ottie and Bertie Couch; her grandson, John Berlier; her stepdaughter, Peggy Ruth Coffman; and her siblings, Amos  Couch, Nancy Meyers, Ruefena Burns and Mary Jo Wilson.

Loving friends may visit Thursday, November 5th and Friday, November 6th from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors in Fritch.  A graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. MT Saturday, November 7th in Roy, NM under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the John Berlier Scholarship Fund, P. O. Box 194, Estancia, NM  87016.  The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all her friends and BSA Hospice of the Southwest for their love and support.
