Barbara Jean Gum, 80, of Fritch, Texas died Monday, July 16, 2012 in Dumas, Texas.
A Memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2012 at the First Southern Baptist Church of Fritch with Reverend Calvin Winters, Pastor officiating. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Barbara was born February 21, 1932 in Clovis, New Mexico to Samuel and Hazel Haynes. She lived in the Amarillo area most of her life, with the last 30 years in Fritch. Barbara was the first Fritch Recycling Center attendant and worked for the city of Fritch for 15 years. Through her passion of recycling and repurposing, she helped many in her community. Barbara worked in a variety of professions but working with children was her favorite. She had worked in a church nursery, private school and as a private tutor to many area children.
Survivors include her four daughters Audrey Funderburk and husband Lamar of Village Mills, Texas Tara Huff of Fritch, Texas Shara Preston of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Tamara OToole of Norman, Oklahoma and her husband Doug of Fritch Texas fifteen grandchildren Tim Robinson, Jeremy Brown, Richard Funderburk, Randy Funderburk, Jason Funderburk, Dustin Funderburk, Amber Parker, Erika Huff, Hanna Huff, Creed Huff, Kayte Gardner, Missy Preston, Samuel Gafford, Andrew Gafford, Orion Maple and 14 greatgrandchildren.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents Samuel Alexander Haynes and Hazel Crabaugh brothers Jim Haynes, Robert Crabaugh husbands Jack OToole, Vernon Gum and daughter Susan Frazier.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Dumas Memorial Nursing Home and Hospice for their unfailing love and care of their mother.
