Barbara Hammer

February 7, 1943 — March 3, 2012

A beloved spouse, mother, maw maw, grandma, sister, aunt, and true friend to all, Barbara Helen Hammer was called home to heaven. Barbara was born on February 7, 1943 to Francis and Hilda Neusch in Amarillo, TX. She grew up in Panhandle, TX on the farm. She married the love of her life and her best friend, Eugene, on December 28, 1979. Barbara did everything from cleaning houses, waitress at a small restaurant, babysitting, upholstery work, was a girl scout leader, ran a rural mail route, taught Catechism classes, served on parish and financial councils at church, and did the bookkeeping and helped Eugene operate Eugenes Service Center.

The most important and best part of her life was raising her three children and spending time with all of her grandchildren and family. She loved life and loved to make everyone elses lives easier, Barbara was always one of the first to offer a helping hand to family and friends alike. She was active in her church, St. Theresas Catholic Church, where she attended faithfully and was an active member of the Christian Mothers. Barbara touched many lives during her time on this earth and she will be dearly missed, but she left a piece of herself in each of our hearts.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 32 years, Eugene Hammer her father, Francis Neusch motherinlaw, Margaret Hammer Son daughterinlaw, David Kandy Caffee Daughter soninlaw, Vanessa Lance Krogh Son daughterinlaw, Jonathan Citasha Hammer her beloved grandchildren, who were truly the joy of her life: grandson, Michael Caffee fianc Christin Erven grandsons: Logan, Landen, Lane Krogh granddaughter, Callie Hammer and grandson, Mason Hammer greatgranddaughter, Lindsey Erven sisters and husbands: Amelia Lee Bellar, Dianne Whitaker, Millie Gary Robertson, Noreen Edwards Brother wives: Edwin and Pat Neusch, Leonard Marie Neusch, Vernon Wynell Neusch sisterinlaw and husbands: Trudy Lee Cogswell, Sharon Bill Stephens Margaret Ann Martinez Jesse, Veronica Willburn, Catherine Allen brothersinlaw and wives: Jack Adeline Hammer, Donald Hammer, Philip Kayla Hammer, Robert Pamela Hammer, Tommy Dianne Hammer, Melvin Kim Hammer, Kevin Mistala Hammer, Brent Sarah Hammer she is also survived by numerous nieces nephews and many dear friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her mother, Hilda Neusch fatherinlaw, E.L. Gene Hammer grandma Clara Batenhorst an infant son a brother, Claude Neusch.

Rosary will be at St. Theresas Catholic Church on Thursday, March 8 , 2012 at 6 pm
Funeral Mass will be at St. Theresas Catholic Church In Panhandle on March 9 , 2012 at 10 am with Father Mieczyslaw Przepiora officiating. Burial to follow at Panhandle Cemeteryunder the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.
