Belva Sue Shumate, 80, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016.
Graveside service will be held at 2 pm Friday, May 6, 2016 in Panhandle Cemetery with Rev. Josh Light officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. In lieu of flowers her memory may be honored with a gift to Texas Baptist Men Association, Attn: Mickey Lenamon, 5351 Catron, Dallas, Texas 75227or City Church in Amarillo, 205 S. Polk Amarillo, Texas, 79101.
Belva was born April 30, 1936 in Baxter County, Arkansas to Ida (Smith) and Nollie Hayes. She ran the H&H green stamp store in Panhandle and also worked for Smith Flowers in Panhandle. Belva was a 40 year member of First Baptist Church of Panhandle before moving away from the area. Currently she was a member of First Baptist Church of Pampa. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, shopping, crocheting and was an amazing cook.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Nettie Lueck and Anna Martin; and son-in-law, Jeff Dimick.
Survivors include her husband, Bill of the home; son, Steve Shumate of Pampa; daughter, Shela Stafford and husband Bud of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Stephanie Shumate and Austin Shumate; and brother, Lonnie Hayes and wife Phyllis of Gassville, Arkansas.
