Billy Dan Hughes, 57, of EastridgeAmarillo, died Saturday, January 12, 2013 in Amarillo.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the Church of Christ at the Colonies with Mr. Dick Marcear officiating. Interment will follow at the Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.
Billy Dan Hughes was born March 28, 1955 in Searcy, Arkansas to Edward and Lola Faye Stephens Hughes. He was a member of the Church of Christ at the Colonies, and lifetime resident of the Amarillo, Groom, Panhandle area. Billy was also a farmer, and heavy equipment operator for Carson County. He was a diehard Green Bay Packer fan. Billy had a big heart, and put others before himself. He always made sure the kids in his Eastridge neighborhood were taken care of. Bill also drove the Church Bus for Eastridge Baptist Church for 20 plus years.
Survivors include a cousin, Debbie Roetzel of Judsonia, Arkansas his Aunt, Odean Hughes of Searcy, Arkansas his dog Japan, and many friends, and coworkers.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents, and his dog, Dallas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of Christ at the Colonies 4500 Wesley Rd. Amarillo, Texas 79119, or the Panhandle Cemetery Association PO Box 907 Panhandle, Texas 79068.
