On January 22, 2021, Billy Rex Jolly, devoted husband, father of five, grandfather of six, and great-grandfather of five, passed away at the age of 77. Bill was born on December 19, 1943 in Phillips, TX to John Vernon and Lily Dell (Slover) Jolly. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech University and a Master’s of Science in Engineering from Arizona State University. He married his childhood sweetheart, LaVerne Kube, on May 30, 1965. They raised five children in Gilbert, AZ while Bill worked as a Civil Engineer. In 1993, the family moved to Fritch, TX to be closer to Bill and LaVerne’s parents.
In the summer of 1996, Bill retired from working to care for LaVerne. As a man of great faith, he prayed for and truly believed in the miracles of the New Testament and their continuation today. With a passion for ministry, Bill spent his free time researching the Word and writing a series of Bible studies. Bill also spent many years documenting family trees and gathering genealogical information for the Jolly, Slover, and Henderson families. He was known for his quick wit, great intelligence and knowledge of the Word of God.
Bill is survived by his wife, LaVerne Jolly; Son, Samuel David Jolly, his former wife, Kathleen Jolly, and her two children; daughter Rebecca Ruth, her husband, John Garber, and their two children; Sharon Marie, her husband Michael Betzold, and their two children; daughter Grace Ann Jolly; son John Mark Jolly; and honorary daughter, Cindi Snyder. Bill has requested a private service.
