Billy Joe Young, 77, died Monday, May 30, 2011 in Amarillo.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Panhandle Cemetery with Cole Goldsmith of Pampa, former pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Panhandle officiating. Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.
Mr. Young was born on August 13, 1933 in Wynnewood, OK and had lived in Panhandle since 1990 coming from Oklahoma City. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1956 as a Specialist 4 in Korea. He married Jo Brumfield on March 26, 1964 in Boise, Idaho. He retired from the Corp of Engineers after 38 years and retired from Mason and Hanger after three years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Panhandle Country Club. He loved Playing golf and watching football, basketball and especially watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Elsie Young and sister Velma Nabors.
He is survived by his wife Jo Young of the home, daughter Jamie Young of Omaha, Nebraska, two sons Steve Young and wife Mary Beth and Bill Young and wife Jody all of Panhandle, grandchildren Steven Cisney, Tony Cisney and wife Joni, and Dawn Cisney all of Omaha, Nebraska, Peter Young and wife Cathy of Port Aransas, TX, Adam Young and wife Jessica, Christopher Young and wife Lindsay, John Benjamin Young, Andrew Young, Chad Young and wife Amanda, and Billy Joe Young all of Panhandle, Katie Young of Amarillo. Greatgrandchildren are Stephanie, Rebecca, Brooklyn and Dillon Cisney all of Omaha, Nebraska, Kyler, Kohynn and Hudson Young all of Panhandle. He is also survived by his brother Howard Young of Seminole, OK, and Earlene Robertson of Pauls Valley, OK. and several nieces and nephews.
