Blake Mathew Thorvaldsen, 30, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2 pm Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Grace Church, 401 Gardner Street, Borger, Texas 79007.
Blake was born July 1, 1986 in Newport Beach, California to Cathy and Paul Thorvaldsen. He had a profound love for his family and friends, and nothing brought more joy to his life than being with them. He took to cooking and entertaining as a means to bring loved ones together, and he did it often. Being a connoisseur of some of the finer things, Blake enjoyed a good Scotch and a cigar, with his family and friends. He was also an artist, writer, and sports enthusiast. He maintained a deep sense of pride in his Norwegian heritage, displaying it around his home and carrying it brightly on his left shoulder. That same sense of pride was evident in all of his professional life. He was very dedicated and earned his Bachelor of Business Management from Eckerd College and was a hard worker as an environmental technician for GHD. Blake had a real appreciation for modern engineering. Everything from cars, motorcycles, and a special interest in military aircraft. He had a heart the size of Texas, as cool as California, and a smile that could make everything right in the world.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Johan and Liv Thorvaldsen and Mickey Renshaw.
Survivors include his parents, Paul and Cathy Thorvaldsen of Borger, Texas; his beloved dog, Bandit; grandfather, George Renshaw; aunts and uncles, Joanne Thorvaldsen of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Lisa LeVasseur and husband Ed of Edmonds, Washington, Jeff Renshaw and wife Cathy of Riverside, California, Brian Renshaw and fiancé Sandra of Newport Beach, California; cousins, Charlie, Joshua and Daniel LeVasseur, Mandy, Holly, Jake and Kellie Renshaw; and best friend, Andy Rodesney and fiancé Nicole Vasquez of Long Beach, California.
