Bob Smith, 71, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015.
A memorial service will be held 2 pm Saturday, February 21, 2015 at First Southern Baptist Church of Fritch. Cremation is under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. In lieu of flowers, his memory may be honored giving support to local veterans, the Wounded Warriors, First Baptist Church of Fritch or give back to the community in honor of him.
Bob was born April 4, 1943 in Flomot, Texas to Joseph and Ruth Smith. He proudly served in the United States Army and as a Deputy for Hutchison County Sheriff's Department.
He married the love of his life, Connie, on July 9, 1961 in Spur, Texas. Bob served his community not only as an officer of the law, but served also as the D.A.R.E. officer for Hutchinson County. He was also the driving force in bring McGruff the Crime Dog to the community. Bob was a member of the Scottish Rite, VFW and American Legion. In his spare time Bob enjoyed wood carving and spending winters at Lake Medina.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Connie of the home; son, Blain Smith of Fritch; daughter, Lora Smith of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Mason, Gav'n, Ethan; brother, Jim Tom Smith of Alva, Oklahoma; and sisters, Judy Self of Abilene and Eulalia Dean of San Angelo.
