Carl "Dick" Lee Cosper, 78, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015.
Funeral service will be held 10 am Friday, April 10, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Panhandle with Chaplain C.W. Parker, officiating. Burial will follow in Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. The family will receive guests 5-7 pm Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the funeral home. His memory may be honored with a gift to Gentiva Hospice or Jason Inman Scholarship Memorial at Happy State Bank.
Dick was born August 10, 1936 in Cee Vee, Texas to Jack and Ada Sherman Cosper. He proudly served in the United States Navy stationed on the USS Hornet. After the Navy he started driving trucks for Andy Taylor Trucking for 25 years and Tony Treadwell Trucking for 7 years, until he retired. He loved swapping stories with other veterans about being on the USS Hornet with Scott Carpenter and about their experiences. Dick married Barbara Allen on October 15, 1982 in Amarillo, Texas. He loved fishing, country and bluegrass music. Nothing brought more joy to his life than spending time with his grandkids, teasing them or telling the stories about his high school football days.
He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jason Inman and several aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara of the home; sons, William Cosper and wife Billie of Claude, Robert Inman and wife Candra of Panhandle; daughters, Ann Hughey and significant other Jesse Stamp of Panhandle; thirteen grandchildren; one great grandchild on the way; brothers, Sherman Cosper and wife Barbara of Clarendon, Jerry Cosper and wife Gayle of Brownfield; and sister, Jacquline West of Panhandle.
