Carolyn Jo Cummings

Carolyn Jo Cummings, 73, surrounded by her loved ones, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 3, 2023. A Celebration of Life is planned at 2pm on Monday, October 9 at First Baptist Church in Borger, Tx. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park. There will be a visitation for friends and family at Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger from 5-7pm on Sunday, October 8th. 

Carolyn was born on December 9, 1949 in Altus, Oklahoma to Jack Thomas & Jewell M. Willis. They then moved to Borger, Texas where Carolyn was a long-time resident. 
She first met the love of her life, Archie Lee Cummings, while in 5th grade when they both played clarinets in band. They started dating the summer of their sophomore year and were sweethearts from then on. They married on June 1, 1969 in Borger. During their 54 years of marriage, they had four children (one in Heaven), five grandchildren (two in Heaven) and six great-grandchildren. Carolyn loved her family with all her heart. 
Carolyn was a loving, thoughtful, cheerful and dedicated wife, mother, grandma, sister, daughter, friend and follower of God. When she wasn't being a homemaker or cleaning houses, she enjoyed spending her time studying her Bible, gardening, teaching bible classes, singing in the choir at church, researching family genealogy, cooking, sending cards to others with her colorful cross bookmarks, traveling, helping Archie with quilting and spending time with her family. If Carolyn knew you, she loved you. Her smile and laugh could brighten up any room. She was a faithful prayer warrior and was gifted at encouragement. Despite many health set-backs, she persevered with courage and determination and didn't let any of it get her down. Carolyn was treasured by so many and her family will miss her dearly. 

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Jack & Jewell Willis; her parents-in-law Weldon & Thelma Cummings; her daughter, Jerusha; her granddaughter, Mercedes Cummings; her granddaughter, Ashley Cummings and her sister-in-law, Cathe Willis. 

She is survived by her husband, Archie Cummings of the home, her daughter Angela McKey and husband Charlie of Borger, her son Paul Cummings of Borger, her son David Cummings and wife Jessica of Stinnett. Her grandchildren include grandson Brett Cummings & wife Bailey, granddaughter Destiny Montano & husband Jr and grandson Dustin Cummings. Her great grandchildren include Sawyer Cummings, Spencer Cummings, Ziyah Cummings, Kelton Montano, Ember Cummings and Alianah Montano. Her siblings include sister Pam Brown and husband Steve of Salem, Oregon; brother Wesley Willis of Borger and brother Keven Willis and wife Robyn of Apopka, Florida. Along with many precious nieces, nephews and cousins. 
As Carolyn would say it...love you bushels!
