Borger

Cecil Ray Chisum of Borger passed away peacefully at home on August 12th. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15th at Wesley United Methodist Church with pastors Jerry Lane and John Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mr. Chisum was born in Borger on December 20, 1943 to Walter H. and Atta Lou Morris Chisum. He graduated from Borger High School in 1964. He served in the United States Air Force, which led him to the love of his life when they were both working as switchboard operators for different branches of the military. He married Diane Dee Heitgers on May 24, 1966 in Montgomery, Alabama.

He worked as a computer operator for Sid Richardson Carbon Co. formerly known as Phil Black for 29 years, retiring in 2006.

Cecil was a kind, gentle man with a huge capacity of love. He also maintained the fascination and excitement of a child, which shone through in his eyes. He loved life. He was an artist and wood worker. He was also a collector, whose collections encluded clocks, trains, deer, lanterns and Santa Clauses.

He was preceeded in death by his parents; one sister, Ellen Reynolds; infant twin daughters, Terrie and Jerrie; one nephew, Virgil Reynolds and one neice, Becky Peterson.

Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Dee, of the home; one daughter, Tammy Pfeiffer and son-in-law Fred and their children Ekaterina, Alex, and Ian of Loveland, Co.; son, Chris Chisum and daughter-in-law Kelley and their children Bailey, Natalie and Nicole of Borger; son, Tim Chisum and daughter-in-law Becca and their children Dustin and Starla of Borger. Tim and Becca are also expecting a daughter, Aspen Nicole, in November; brother-in-law Cecil Reynolds of Spearman; niece Kathy Coventry and husband Mark of St. Charles, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews; and friend Tina James.

Cecil adored his grandchildren and would have loved to watch them grow up. Though his time here on earth was too short, he knew he was going home to meet his Savior in Heaven. May those left behind find comfort in his favorite Bible Verse, Phillipians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.

Pall bearers bill be Ed Cole, Danny Gilbreath, Val Boothe, Don Landrum, Rusty Landrum and Mike Chowins.

The family will be staying at 1400 Jennings.
