Charlene DeLée McKinney, 84, went to be with her Lord Saturday, September 19, 2015.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm Wednesday, September 23, 2015 in the Minton Memorial Chapel, Rev. Jack W. McKinney, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at the funeral home.
Charlene was born October 16, 1930 in Quay, Payne County, Oklahoma to Julia Jane (Compton) and Laurel Alfred Pickering. She married Jack Wallace McKinney, Sr. on August 2, 1947 in Paris, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1997. She then married Floyd McKinney on September 30, 2000 in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Mrs. McKinney worked as a supervisor for Phillips, retiring after 20 years of service. Charlene was currently a member of First Baptist Church in Crescent, Oklahoma. She worshiped at First Baptist Borger for 31 years, First Southern Baptist Church in Fritch for 10 years and First Baptist Weatherford for 10 years. She taught Sunday School for 25 years and served in the Women's Missionary Union for30 years. Charlene enjoyed working crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. Nothing brought more joy to her life than her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandson.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and her first husband; sisters, Geraldine Pickering, Maxine Staten; brothers, Robert Pickering and Tommy Pickering.
Survivors include her husband, Floyd McKinney of Guthrie; son, Jack W. McKinney, Jr. of Conroe, Texas; daughter, Suzanne Jewell and husband Bill of Crescent, Oklahoma; stepson, Steve McKinney and wife Rose of Amarillo; stepdaughter, Kathryn Shuffield of Fritch; 14 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; sister, Jane Satterfield of Denver; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
