On February 2, 2024, Charles Edward Henderson, 87 of Borger, Texas, he passed away in Amarillo. He was born June 23, 1936, in Hale Center, Texas. Later, he moved with his mother, Nellie Walling to Plainview, Texas and lived with her, his stepfather, Bud Walling, and his older brother, Jay Henderson. In 1954 to 1958, Charlie served in the Marines. In 1959, he went through the Texas Highway Patrol Academy and after completion, he was assigned to McLean, Texas. While there, he met and married Flo Nell Crockett. In 1969, Charlie was promoted to Sergeant and the family moved to Borger, Texas. In 1986, a promotion as Lieutenant once again found him relocating to Amarillo, Texas. He retired from the department in 2006 and returned to Borger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, and one son, Mark Henderson. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Flo; a daughter Tonya Tate and husband Bryan of Fritch, Texas, and a son Mike Henderson of Borger, Texas. Also, he is survived by seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He loved his Lord, his family, and his country.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday February 6, 2024 at the Church of Christ at Borger and Military graveside rites will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean following the service under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 at Minton Memorial Chapel.
