Charles Hunt

Charles Hunt, 81, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Rob Lackey and Rev. Jim Powell officiating. Burial will follow at 3 pm in Palo Duro Wildorado Cemetery, Wildorado, Texas under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers his memory may be honored with a gift to Garretson Center, P.O. Charles was born August 15, 1935 in Bellwood, Nebraska to Walter and Emma (Buchholtz) Hunt. He moved from Nebraska to Texas in 1955. He never wanted to move back up north. He married Joyce Eddings in Amarillo on October 28, 1960. Charlie served in the US Army from 1958-1960.

He retired in 2000 from DePauw Earth Movers and Fly Ash. Charles enjoyed camping, fishing and tinkering.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Fannie Want and Kniela Phelps; brother, Waldo Hunt; daughter, Lori Little; and granddaughter, Kayli Little.

Survivors include his wife Joyce of the home; son, David Hunt and wife D'Lee of Panhandle; four grandchildren, Heather Downer and husband Tray of Amarillo, Heath Hunt and wife Andrea of Panhandle, Tiffany Barnes and husband Desmond, Torey Watkins of Amarillo; nine sweet sweet great grandchildren; sisters, Lois Alfred and husband Don of Amarillo, Ethie Uptergrove and husband Jim of Clarendon; brother, Donald Hunt of Amarillo; and special little buddy, Scooter.
