Christina Lane

January 24, 1918 — August 2, 2013

Christina LaVina Lane, 95, died August 2, 2013 in Amarillo. Celebration of Life services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Panhandle with Dr. Jerry Lane, Pastor of White Deer United Methodist Church and Rev. Buddy Payne, Pastor officiating. Burial is in Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.

Mrs. Lane was born January 24, 1918 at the Santa Fe Train Depot in Umbarger, Texas to Offie Butchie and Carrie Mayo Hendrix. Christina graduated from Pampa High School and not long after graduation she married Howard Lane October 25, 1936 in Pampa at the Methodist Parsonage. They lived in Shattuck and Pampa until moving to Panhandle in 1939. Christina taught Sunday School with Mrs. Denny at 1st United Methodist Church, she loved crafts, china painting, crochet and Needle point. She was a member of the Altrurian club in Panhandle. She was known as a true lady.

She was preceded in death by her son Roy, her sister Yvonne Jones, her brother Theo Hendrix and nephew Stanley Hendrix.

Christina is survived by her husband of 76 years Howard, her son Dr. Jerry and wife Mary Lou of White Deer, her grandchildren Karrie Smith and husband Shawn of Panhandle, Jeffrey Lane and wife Amy of College Station, Kelly Lane of Panhandle, Tamara Lane of Lubbock, her greatgrandchildren Jerrod , Jacob and Addison, Chad and Jason. Great great grandchildren Ayden and Grantly, two nieces Patsy Gunnells and husband Ray of Robert Lee and Pam Vaughn and husband Dwayne of Lafayette, LA a sister in law Lucille Hendrix of Lafayette, LA and Georgia Lane Cook and husband Vernon of Miami and numerous nieces and nephews.

Casket bearers will be Shawn Smith, Jeffrey Lane, Kelly Lane, Chad Smith and Jason Smith.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice of the Southwest at Childers Place for their love and tender care.
