Claude M. Hooks Jr., 68, passed away on Monday January 18, 2010 in Amarillo.
A memorial and celebration of his life will be at 4:00 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2010 at the Word of Life Church in Bunavista with Pastors Norman Shuman, W.L. Scott, and George Chavez officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Mr. Hooks was born on September 28, 1941 in Hollis, Oklahoma to the late Claude and Mary Hooks Sr. He had lived in Fritch for six years, had formerly lived in Skellytown, and was a longtime resident of Stinnett. Claude married Christine Lopez on October 24, 1960 in Stinnett. He was an owneroperator in the oilfield and trucking industry. Claude loved his grandkids and enjoyed debating. He was an active member of the Prison Ministry and was a former member on the board of directors for the Skellytown School, Skellytown City Council, and High Plains Epilepsy Foundation.
Claude was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Mary Hooks Sr., and his brother John L. Hooks, both of Stinnett.
He is survived by his wife Christine Hooks of the home two sons, Claude M. Hooks III of Matamoros, MX and Caleb Alyn Hooks of the home. Three daughters: Cynthia K. Leamon of Canyon, TX, Niesie Black and her husband Lee Black of Fritch, Wendy G. Wells and her husband Doyle Wells IV of Fritch one surviving brother Don Hooks of Stinnett TX six sisters Ruth Hedgecoke and Barbara Mongold both of Waxahachie TX, Susan Ramsey, Sharon Lawrence Brenda Harrison, and Ladonna Kitchen all of Borger TX.
Sixteen grandchildren: Sasha Archer and husband Brian of Amarillo TX, Kali Leamon of Dallas TX, Tilden Leamon of Sherman TX, Kenan Leamon of Fritch TX, Corrie Black of Canyon TX, Sage and Zane Black of Fritch TX, Claude Milton Hooks IV and wife Brittnee of Katy TX, Erin Hooks of North Carolina, Cole and Chris Hooks of Amarillo TX, Claudia and John Paul Hooks of El Paso, Brittni SmithHooks Hailey Wells and Doyle Wells V all of Fritch TX.
Two great grandchildren: Annsley Archer of Amarillo TX and Bayden Hooks of Katy TX.
