Clifton "Roy" Leroy Johnson, 98, passed away Friday, January 19, 2018.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Grace Church. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at the funeral home.
Roy was born October 13, 1919 in Bryan County, Oklahoma to Lula McAlester Evans and Charles Harrison Johnson. He married Velma Dean Raney on September 25, 1940. Roy worked as a welder for JM Huber, Roadrunner Trucking and retired at the age of 62 from GP Guinn Trucking. Roy could fix anything. He was a wonderful cook and was known for his chicken and dumplings and homemade rolls. Roy had a wonderful sense of humor and if he liked you his was always picking on you, may even say he was going to whip you.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Velma Dean Johnson; son, James Clifton Johnson; grandson, Alva Leroy "Lee" Marchman; great granddaughter, Chelsea Brooke Brantwein; five brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include his son, Charles "Chuck" Johnson and wife Kathy of Fritch; daughters, Pat Minton and husband Jim of Borger, Deana Mercer and husband Sammy of Panhandle; ten grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; thirteen great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Dolly Moore of Pheonix, Arizona.
