Cruz Cortez went to his heavenly home, May 15, 2014 in Borger Texas at his home.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 19th, at Westlawn Memorial Park in Borger. Deacon Seferino Jimenez of St. Johns Catholic Church will officiate. Arrangements are by Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mr. Cortez was born to Agustin Cortez and wife Eofrocina Ramirez Sanchez on May 3, 1926 in Zacatula Guerrero, Mexico. Cruz loved to garden and spend time in his yard. His family lovingly called him MacGyver he could fix anything with a little piece of anything. Mr. Cruz loved reading his bible and spending time with the Lord. He loved his family, his sisters and his dogs and cats dearly. Cruz is remembered by many as Uncle Tony. He was very loved and respected by his nieces and nephews of the Barriga family.

Mr. Cortez is a member of St. Johns Catholic Church. He has lived in the Borger area for 30 years coming from Aztec, New Mexico.
Cruz was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers, his dog Fluffy, and cat, Palomo.

He is survived by his love of 38 years Maria E. Mier, children, Vicente Cortez and wife Sylvia of Pico Rivera, California Javier Cortez and wife also of Pico Rivera, California Nellie Villasenor and husband Domingo of Borger, Texas Rosa Mier Lozoya of Santa Fe, New Mexico Diane Contreras and husband Victor of Monte Vista, Colorado Peggy Moreno and husband Luis of Borger, Texas . Brother, Anastacio Villasenor of Mexico Brothersinlaw, Mel Martinez and wife Eleanor of Canjilon, New Mexico Gavino Martinez of Tierra Azul, New Mexico Manuel Barriga of Mexico sisterinlaws, Bertha Galvan of Espanola, New Mexico Emma King also of Espanola, New Mexico and Desi Martinez of Tierra Amarilla, New Mexico.

Honored Grandfather to Nicole Barriga of Escondido, California Miguel Chavez of Amarillo, Texas Omar Moreno of Miami, Texas and Marcos Moreno of Hereford, Texas. Numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
