Cuba Walker

October 1, 1938 — September 24, 2018

Cuba Irene Grimes Walker, 79, made her return to her heavenly home on September 24, 2018 after a valiant battle with a long illness. Her devotion to her family and her strong belief in her Lord supported her throughout her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

Cuba was born to the late Wilburn Caril and Sarah Naomi Grimes, in Lake City, AR on October 1, 1938. She was the eldest of twelve children of whom she was fondly known by as, Sis, to each one as well as to their spouses. Cuba always played a large part in the lives of her siblings growing up. She graduated high school at Chula Vista High in CA. She was immersed in the church from an early age and remained active in her faith throughout her life serving as a leader in several Bible Study Fellowships in AR and TX. She served as a permanent aide/substitute teacher at Finegayan Elementary on Guam during the early to mid 1970's, riding the bus to and from school with her youngest daughter.

In 1955, Cuba met the love of her life and best friend, Donald Ray Walker. They married on August 31, 1957 in Chula Vista, CA. They shared sixty-one blessed years together. They raised two daughters together with patience, discipline and humility. From the beginning, she dedicated her children to God and always encouraged them to love the Lord and walk in His way.

Cuba is survived by her sweetheart, Don; her daughters; Debbie and Terry Tolbert of Gilmer, TX, and Linda Manasco of Borger; her grandchildren, Jamie and Wendy McAlister, Patrick and Natalie McAlister, Christopher Dowling, Whitney and Wes Skierski, and Shawn Dowling; great-grandchildren, Caley Massengale, Zoey Skierski, Maddox Dowling, Hallie McAlister, and Jericho Dowling. She is also survived by her brothers, Barney Grimes, Wayne Grimes, Paul Grimes, Fred Grimes, and Phillip Grimes; and sister, Bonita Grimes; as well as sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews

Cuba is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bill Grimes, Elvis Grimes, Danny Grimes and Ricky Grimes; sister, Pamela Grimes; son-in-law, Larry Manasco.
