D. Lindley, Jr.

July 26, 1925 — March 20, 2011

D. C. Lindley, Jr., 85, died Sunday, March 20, 2011 in Amarillo.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the First Southern Baptist Church in Fritch with Rev. Paul Simpson of Memorial Heights Baptist Church in Claremore, OK and Rev. Calvin Winters, Pastor officiating. Interment will be in The Garden of Serenity at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch.

Mr. Lindley was born on July 26, 1925 in Abilene, Texas and had been an area resident for 61 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and was the owneroperator of Fritch Feed and Garden. He was a member of the 1st Southern Baptist Church, the Golden Agers at the church, Senior Citizens Sunshine Club, was a deacon for 50 years and a Baptist minister for 48 years. He loved gardening, building and woodworking and was a certified police officer for the State of Texas.

D.C. was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one brother.

He is survived by his wife Polly Lindley of the home, son David Lindley and wife Kim of Fritch, two daughters Davida Dane and husband Jackie of Amarillo, Armetha Shapley and husband Mike of Fritch, sister Eloise Wilson of Muleshoe, ten grandchildren and sixteen greatgrandchildren.
