Dale Joe Roselius, 86, lost his third and bravest battle with cancer and passed away among family on January 3, 2022. Visitation will be Friday, January 7th, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors in Panhandle. Services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 8, 2022 at First United Methodist Church in Panhandle, TX. Burial will follow in Panhandle Cemetery.
Dale was born December 10, 1935 in Amarillo to Ida and Ernest Roselius. He married Peggy Louise Hanson on June 14, 1957 and had two children, Danny and Cindy. They lived on Euclid Street in Panhandle most of their married life. Dale loved the Boy Scouts and earned his Eagle Scout award while in high school. He graduated from Panhandle High School in 1954, went to Texas Tech University on a football scholarship, and was also a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He later received his master’s degree in education from West Texas State University.
Dale began his teaching career in Borger, TX, and spent many years coaching and teaching in Panhandle Junior High, eventually becoming the Panhandle High School Counselor. He retired after many years of devoted service to the children and parents of Panhandle, TX.
Dale loved landscaping and working with plants. He enjoyed photography and specialized in shooting gorgeous sunsets, landscapes and plants. He loved art and painted several beautiful paintings as well. He loved spending time with family and friends especially the chuckwagon cookouts in Fort Worth and “The Hunt” at Quitaque.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ida and Ernest Roselius, sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Jimmy Don Mitchell, son Danny Roselius, and nephew Jason Roselius.
Dale is survived by wife Peggy, brother Jay Bob and sister-in-law Reva, daughter Cindy and son-in-law Mark McAden, daughter-in-law Marva, grandchildren Ashley and Jesse Kops, Derek and Dylan McAden, great-grandchildren Kadence and Daniel Kops, step-grandchildren Valerie and Benson Akpan, Mollie Burnham, Landrie and Cory Throgmorton. He was also survived by many other members of the Jimmy Joe and Kelly Mitchell, Rex and Julie Young, Mike and Liz Hughes, and Roselius Families.
The family suggest memorials may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center or the Wounded Warriors Project.
