Dana Rogers

Dana Rawlins Grongy Rogers, 84, formerly of Panhandle died Saturday, June 19, 2010 in Amarillo.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM on Monday, June 21 2010, at the Panhandle cemetery with Brad Bentley of Lubbock officiating. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.

Dana was born on October 1, 1925 in Grayson County, TX to Ancel Aaron and Maude Della Rawlins. She was the 7th of 11 children.

She married the love of her life, Alfred Rogers, on October 17, 1941 in Sherman, TX. They moved to Buenavista in 1948. Dana and Alfred moved to Panhandle in 1958 and it is there that they raised their two daughters and called home for 37 years. She was best known for the sodas and shakes she made for the customers at The Panhandle Drug Store.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 sisters and 6 brothers.

She enjoyed quilting, fishing, dancing and had the cleanest house on the block.

Survivors she leaves behind include two daughters, Marilyn Bentley and husband C.L. Bentley of Amarillo, and Gail Metcalf of Edmond, Oklahoma and a brother Harold Butch Rawlins and wife Mamie Rawlins of Lewisville. She was Grongy to four grandsons, Neil Bentley and wife Dawn Bentley of Amarillo, Bradley Bentley and wife Deedra Bentley of Lubbock, Jeff Bentley of Albuquerque and Cory Bentley and wife Jaime Bentley of Amarillo. She was also Grongy to six greatgrandchildren, Lauren Bentley, Brandon Bentley and Brooklyn Bentley of Amarillo, Barek and Paige Bentley of Lubbock and Taylor Bentley of Albuquerque. She also was loved and will be missed by her nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to be sent to Odyssey Hospice, 6900 W. Interstate 40 150, Amarillo, TX 791062522.
