David A. Parker, 65, died Sunday, June 12, 2011 in Amarillo.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Borger. Interment will be at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
David was born on May 9, 1946 in Pembroke, Bermuda and was a Borger resident for 65 years. David was married to Karla Parker Woods for 41 years. He graduated from Borger High School in 1964 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. David served on the USS Forrestal and the USS Roosevelt. After settling in Borger he worked at J.M. Huber and then at Agrium for 35 years.
David was an avid golfer. He loved his golfing buddies. He also loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed schooling his sonsinlaw on the golf course and spending time with his grandchildren.
David could fix anything. He was a talented mechanic. He had an easy going personality and never angered easily, which came in handy when raising three daughters.
He was preceded in death by his father, Horace Parker
Survivors include his wife Karla Parker of the home, three daughters Audra Miller and her husband Burnie of Boerne, Misty Deeds and her husband Kelly of Lubbock, Jana Franscell and her husband Mike of Boerne his eight grandchildren K.D., Jon Mikel, and Koby Deeds Megan, Trey, and Joshua Miller, Olivia and Makayla Franscell. He is also survived by his mother Annie Parker of Borger, stepmother Benita Parker of Boliver, MO, brother Donnie Parker of Borger, sister Lillian Pack of Cleburne, two stepsisters and one halfbrother and many other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to Harrington Cancer Center Building Fund , 1500 Wallace Blvd, Amarillo, 79106 or your favorite charity.
