Deana Wood

Myrna Dean “Deana” Wood, 86, heard the words, “well done my good and faithful servant” on Wednesday, January 31, 2024.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10 am Monday, February 5, 2024, at The River Church in Panhandle.  In lieu of flowers her memory may be honored with a gift to The River, Po Box 325, Panhandle, Texas 79068 or to a charity of choice.

Deana was born October 10, 1937, in Lubbock to Glen O. Ward and Melba O. Hillyer Ward.  She was a member of The River Church in Panhandle.  A true lover of knowledge and the written word, Deana helped others pursue knowledge as an English teacher for over 33 years.  She taught in Seagraves, Texas and Clayton, New Mexico.  Deana was an avid reader and published her own novel entitled “Llano Gold” that she wrote entirely on her phone.  She loved Jesus and was an earnest prayer warrior.  Deana truly believed in serving her fellow man by supporting various mission fields.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Glen and Melba Ward; and a sister, Glenda Meadows and her husband Gale.

Survivors include her son, Lincoln Wood and wife Meg of Panhandle; grandchildren, Clayton Wood and Masyn Reining, Zachary Wood and Lauren Gonzales, Tyler Wood; and brother, Mike Ward and wife Gaye of Lubbock.
