Dewayne Keener

June 30, 1926 — September 2, 2016

Dewayne (D.O.) Keener, 90, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016.

Funeral services will be held 10 am Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Bunavista Baptist Church with Chaplain Richard Bartel and Tuffy Wigley officiating. Burial will be 11 am Thursday, September 8, 2016 in Paoli Cemetery in Paoli, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a gift may be made in his honor to Meals on Wheels or BSA Hospice of the Southwest. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Dewayne Keener was born June 30, 1926 in Wayne, Oklahoma to Olie May Swinford and Ebbie Keener. He proudly served in the United States Army during the The Battle of Okinawa Island of WW II. D.O. was a member of Bunavista Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. D.O. retired from Phillips Petroleum Carbon Black. He coached baseball from 1963-1980 and he loved to hunt and fish.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wives, Jeannette Pearl Wigley Keener and Jo Hellen Hill Keener; a baby girl; and sisters, Rachel Sneathen and Pauline Roach.

Survivors include his sons, Don Keener and wife Yvonne of Borger, Lynn Keener and wife Sharon of Borger; daughter, Anna Keeney of Borger; grandchildren, Josh Keeney and wife Marcy, Jim Keeney and wife Ashley, Joedy Keeney and wife Jessica, Tasha Keener and husband Dustin, Kelsey Keener and wife Leticia, Kolby Adame and husband Eric, , Sandra Salim and husband Daniel and Leslie Keener; 23 great grandchildren; and a host of extended family.
