Dewey Mullens

Dewey R. Mullens, 99, left his earthly home and entered into his Heavenly home Tuesday July 19th, 2022 in Amarillo, Tx.

He was born October 22, 1922 at Powderly, Texas to Claude and Hautie (Tubbs) Mullens.

Mr. Mullens was a long time member of the First Southern Baptist Church, Fritch, Texas.  He was also a 60 plus year member of the Billy Dixon Masonic Lodge.

Until his retirement, he worked in Operations for Phillips Petroleum, Copolymer Plant from 1950 until retirement January 1, 1984.  He had taught Sunday school and training union for several years, Coached Little League Baseball, he was a true Cowboys fan, and was quite a successful trot line fisherman.  Coming from a farming family he never quit raising some type of garden.  Mr. Mullens loved his family and his neighbors.

Preceding him in death were his parents, four brothers; Ernest Mullens, Herman Mullens, Homer Mullens and Leonard Mullens and two sisters; Lorene Johnson and Hazel Davis.

Surviving members left behind to cherish his memory are two sons; Roger Mullens and his wife Kem of Fritch, Texas and Gary Mullens and his wife Linda of Hedley, Texas; 4 grandchildren: Chad and his wife Elaine of Wichita, Kansas, Amanda and her husband Chris Fuller of Atlanta, Ga, Craig Mullens and his wife Leslie of Fritch, Texas and Lesley Criswell and her husband Derek of Amarillo, Texas; 8 great grandchildren; Jace Mullens, Ellie Mullens, William Fuller, Whitaker Fuller, Zane Mullens, Nate Mullens and his wife Haley, Zoe Mullens, Eliza Criswell, and Conner Criswell and 2 great-great grandchildren Hazelynn and Arland.  Also his nephew Mike Mullens and his wife Carrie of Alsea, Oregon.

Special thanks for the care given to Mr. Mullens by the BSA Hospice of the Southwest, Amarillo, TX.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Westlawn Memorial Park with Pastor Dwight Kirksey of the Celebration Family Church officiating, under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Family humbly requests in lieu of flowers any donations may go to the First Southern Baptist Church Youth Fund, the Billy Dixon Masonic Lodge, or Fritch Meals on Wheels.
