Doris Cornelius

Doris Reid Cornelius, 95 of Borger went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, surrounded by family. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday, April 24, 2023, at Calvary Baptist Church. There will be a visitation on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at the funeral home from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Doris was born November 29, 1927, at Hearne, TX to Monroe Murray and Lila (Sandifer) Reid. She graduated from Sam Houston State College with a bachelor’s degree in education. She married Orville Gerald Cornelius on December 3, 1944, in New Baden, TX. She was a Sunday School teacher at Calvary Baptist Church where she was a long-time member. She was a teacher then worked  with her husband at Plains Printing that they owned. After her husband death she worked with her son in his business Gerald’s Office Products before retiring.

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Orville, brother Murray Monroe Reid and a great granddaughter Hope Adams.

Surviving is her son Gerald Cornelius and wife Vickie of Borger. Grandchildren Veronica Adams, Jarod Cornelius, Jody Holt, and Rena Faye Holt. Great grandchildren Kloe Holt, Craig Cornelius, Jody Holt Jr, Kyla Faye Holt, and Nathan Adams.
