Doris E. Dial, 87, formerly of Amarillo and Panhandle, died December 30, 2006 in Canadian. Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, and Mass at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Panhandle, both led by Father Mieczyslaw Przepiora . Interment will follow at Panhandle Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 - 4 p.m. on Wednesday at the Funeral Home. She was born Doris Elizabeth Kraker in Wahpeton, North Dakota, where she was raised and attended school. After graduating from the State School of Science in North Dakota, she worked as a secretary in Washington D.C. during WWII. Following the war, she met and married Earl C. Dial and they moved to the panhandle in 1946. They raised four children on a farm northeast of Amarillo. In 1972, they moved to a farm south of Panhandle, Texas, where they farmed until Earl's death in 1994. Doris remained on the farm and was an active member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church. In recent years, she lived at the Marjorie S. Hudson House in Claude, Texas and finally at the Edward Abraham Memorial Home in Canadian. Survivors include her four children, Joe Dial and wife Dawn of Canadian, Texas, Kathleen Dial of San Marcos, Texas, Mary Taniguchi and husband Reuben of Crowley, Texas, and Dennis Dial and wife Kelly of Argyle, Texas; one sister, Luella S. Thoensen of Warrenton,Virginia; seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, and a granddaughter, Kimberly Lay Cisneros in 2000. The family has asked, that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 S. 4th. Street, Canadian, Texas 79014.
