Dorothea Ruth Tanner, 82, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 in Fritch.
Memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Chapel of the Canyons in the Canyon Retirement Center, 2200 W., 7th in Amarillo with Rev. Danny Paddack, retired pastor officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Ruth was born on October 14, 1927 in Tahoka, Texas. She had been an area resident for six years moving here from Amarillo. She went to a business school in Lubbock and was a retired selfemployed bookkeeper. Ruth embroidered and pieced a quilt of the 50 states, having worked on this for most of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Morton, TX, the Mary and Martha Sunday School Class, the sanctuary choir and WMU. She did meals for the Baptist Student Union BSU, helped to organize the Morton Volunteer Fire Department Womans Auxiliary and taught Sunday School class for many years.
She is survived by two daughters Gwyn New of Rio Rancho, NM, Sharron Paddack of Fritch, brother Wallace Stalcup, Sheriff of Cochran County of whom Ruth is very proud, sister Louise McCasland of Morton, five grandchildren, twelve greatgrandchildren three foster grandchildren and five foster greatgrandchildren.
