Durward Ray Smith, 71, died Tuesday, February 20th in Borger, Texas.BRBRServices will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Minton Memorial Chapel in Borger with Pastor Norman Shuman and Pastor Merrill Silvey of Word of Life Church in Borger officiating. Interment will be in The Garden of Hope at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.BRBRMr. Smith was born on July 14, 1935 in Breckenridge, Texas. He had been a Fritch resident for eight years, moving here from Hobbs, N.M. He was a supervisor for the State of New Mexico Oil Conservation Division. He married Edith Johnson on January 16, 1954 in Pampa, Texas. He was a member of the Word of Life Church in Borger. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Durward Smith and Juanita Johnson Smith.BRBRHe is survived by his wife, Edith of the home, son - Steve Smith of Lovington, NM, two daughters - Myrna Parsons of New Orleans,LA, Nita Campbell of Borger, brother - Gary Jan Smith of Pampa, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.BRBRCasket bearers will be Randy Campbell, Jon Parsons, Bud Baker, Sam Johnson, Alvin Johnson and Leonard Johnson.
There will be a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home in Borger.
