E. W. Runt Vassar, 81, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011 in Amarillo.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Grace Fellowship Church with George Young, soninlaw and Rev. Tim Hall, assistant pastor officiating. Interment will be in The Garden of Beatitudes at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mr. Vassar was born on June 9, 1929, and had been a longtime Borger resident. He married Elba Simpson on July 28, 1951 in Cushing, OK. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a supervisor at Phillips Refinery.

He loved to raise bird dogs, working on cars and especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife Elba Vassar of the home, two daughters Debbie Kay Young and husband George and Celesta Collins and husband Roger all of Borger, sister Lou McCoy and husband George of Coleman, TX, ten grandchildren and fifteen greatgrandchildren.

There will be a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Grace Fellowship Building Fund, 401 Gardner, Borger, 79007 or to our favorite charity.

The family will be staying at 102 Skycrest in Borger.
