Elzora Cummings

Elzora Hays Cummings, 94, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017.

Funeral services will be held 2 pm Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Celebration Family Church with Pastor Dwight Kirksey officiating. Burial will follow in Stinnett Cemetery. In lieu of flowers her memory may be honored with a gift to the Friends of the Library, 625 Weatherly, Borger, Texas 79007.

Elzora was born June 14, 1922 in Holyrood, Kansas to Flossie Fern (Wadbye) and Roy Reid. She was a true caregiver taking wonderful care of not only her family but numerous friends. An avid reader, she had been known to read as many as fourteen books in two days. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery and painting. Nothing brought more joy to her life than being with her family especially her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Elza James Hayes; second husband, John Cummings; four sons, Baby Boy Hays, Donnie Hays, David Hays, E.J. Hays; grandchildren, Marty, Mary; sisters, Dorothy, Margie; and brother, Loyle.

Survivors include her daughter, Lana Wilkinson and husband Doc of Fritch; sons, Tom Hays and wife Helen of Duncan, Oklahoma, Jack Hays and wife Judy of New Orleans; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-nine great grandchildren; and sixteen great-great grandchildren.
